Bully is star...(and speaks French too!) Some viewers will be very upset by the brutality of this film and/or the depiction of the dog as evil. Baxter may not be evil, so much as passionate and misled by his desire to serve the right master (some illuminating commentary on Nazi Germany). Overall, I don't think the director's intent was to glorify the violence or meanness, but to make us think of the ways in which we inadvertently create monsters, be it a lonely and cruel boy or a dog with human desires, and make them sympathetic. Please don't rent this as a family movie. This is an artsy film for adults who aren't put off by chilling and ultra dark humor. Not a film many can enjoy, but not meant to be enjoyable. Think of the film Gods and Monsters or Apt Pupil. A tough movie, but thought provoking. (from an Amazon books Reviewer)

Black and White short film with bully as the star. From the director of Nightmare Before Christmas....Burton? As the title suggests, the bully is a doggy Frankenstein. Kind of funny. I gave thumbs up but Tiff gave thumbs down. |

Many people remember the lovable bull terrier Bodget in this one. Disney remade this film 30 years later, but, unfortunately, replaced the bull terrier with an American Bull Dog. I can only find the 1963 version in VHS! |

If you love bull terriers you'll love this movie! It's funny and has a happy ending....much more "family-friendly" than the Bull Terrier movie, Baxter, and fortunately does not show any fighting. The plot is simple, a life of a bull terrier. It's a kind of "rags to riches" and "rags to riches" again story. You'll see some beautiful bullies from the 1950's, and some different colors of bull terriers. Since it was made in the 50s, you'll see that the funny attitude was passed down to our bullies today!
